COVID-19: NYC Closures and Announcements


NYS and NYC Response as of March 16


A few days ago, Governor Cuomo announced that no gatherings in New York state of more than 500 persons will be permitted. Most major cultural attractions in New York City, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, and the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum, will be closed until further notice. New York City's Saint Patrick's Day Parade has also been postponed.


Colleges and universities, including SUNY and CUNY, are moving to a distance-learning model for the rest of the semester.


Public schools in New York City will close starting March 16 and will move to a distance-learning model starting March 23.


As of this writing, public transportation on the MTA's subways, buses, and trains continue to operate.
