Our Journey

 

Ability Builders was born from a dream by a group of therapists and teachers in the early 2000s. Our simple philosophy has always been to give our best, producing timely and quality work that comes from the heart.

From a tiny room in Flushing, NY with just one employee, we've grown into a thriving organization with dozens of staff and hundreds of contracted therapists, teachers, social workers, psychologists, and other professionals!

Over the past decade, we've not only survived but thrived in NYC, making a positive impact on thousands of families and children.

​

Starting in the Bronx, we quickly expanded to serve all five boroughs of NYC. What began as a small dream in Flushing is now a vibrant reality! As Sinatra sang, "if we can make it here..."

Our team thrives on the rich diversity of our city, which is reflected in the people who drive our company forward.

We are staffed by dedicated individuals, many of whom are first and second-generation immigrants from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Our team represents dozens of ethnic groups and speaks nearly a dozen languages. This diversity is a cornerstone of our success.

While many city residents speak English, we understand the importance of communicating in one's native language. That's why we have staff who speak Spanish, French, Bengali, Urdu, Hindi, Tagalog, Cebuano, Russian, Ga, Twi, Arabic, and Ewe. We also have interpreters and consultants for even more languages.

 

Our deep understanding of different cultures and religions allows us to provide culturally sensitive customer service. Most importantly, we believe in the dignity of every individual and treat our clients with respect and the highest regard.
