Ability Builders for Children, LLC
Early Intervention Program
Worried about your child's development?
Ability Builders for Children can help!
Our Services
The New York State (NYS) Early Intervention Program provides screening, evaluation, and developmental services at no cost to families of eligible children under three years old. Ability Builders for Children is an NYS approved provider with multiple decades of experience in the field. We help you navigate the process and bringing timely, trusted and reliable care via secure tele-services or right to your home.

Service Coordination
In Early Intervention, a service coordinator is your family's personal guide — connecting you with the right services, coordinating your child's care team, and walking you through every step from evaluation to transition.
At Ability Builders for Children, our service coordinators make a complex system simple, so you always know what comes next. Our goal is to support you fully so you never feel alone.

Screening and Evaluations
A screening is a quick, no-pressure check of how your child is developing; if helpful, a full evaluation takes a closer look across areas like speech, movement, behavior, self-help (e.g. feeding), learning, vision, hearing and play.
At Ability Builders for Children, evaluations are performed by expert clinicians who specialize in early childhood and can assess your child in more than 30 languages — so your family is understood every step of the way. .

Home-based Services
Ability Builders for Children brings educational and therapeutic services right to your home, where your child feels safest and learns best. If you prefer, secure and convenient tele-services are also available to you.
Based on your child's evaluation, we match the right specialists — speech, occupational, and physical therapy, special instruction, ABA, vision, social and counseling — and coach your family with strategies you can use every day.
Information for Our Partners

About Us
Ability Builders started in the early 2000s when a group of therapists decided to build something better for kids. The approach was straightforward then and it still is now: do excellent work, do it on time, and treat every family with respect and care.
We opened with one employee in a single room in Flushing, NY. Today we're a team of dozens, backed by hundreds of contracted therapists, teachers, social workers, and psychologists across the city.
Over the past two decades we've worked with thousands of New York families and children — and we're just getting going.
We have also been a trusted and reliable partner to hundreds of therapists, teachers, social workers, psychologists and other professionals weathering with them the storms and disruptions in the EI program.
All throughout our two decades of service, we have maintained the level of support and financial reliability and responsibility to all our valued providers.
More importantly, as we journey towards our third decade, we continue to commit to our mission to the children, families and EI providers of NYC and all the other counties we serve.
Our Core Beliefs
At Ability Builders for Children, we believe every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential — intellectually, emotionally, and physically.
We see the unique strengths in each child, and we know they thrive when supported within their family and community.
That belief drives how we work: care that's centered on your family, delivered on time, and focused on real results for your child.
Our Team
Our team reflects the rich diversity of New York, and that diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Many of our staff are first- and second-generation immigrants from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe, representing dozens of ethnic groups and speaking nearly a dozen languages between them.
We know how much it matters to be understood in your own language. Our team speaks Spanish, French, Bengali, Urdu, Hindi, Tagalog, Cebuano, Russian, Ga, Twi, Arabic, and Ewe — with interpreters and consultants available for many more. That fluency, paired with a real understanding of different cultures and traditions, means we can meet each family where they are.
Above all, we believe in the dignity of every individual, and we treat every family we serve with warmth, respect, and the highest regard.
